Satellite-derived agricultural area for every PIN code in India

Agri IntelligencePIN to intelligence
PIN-code based agricultural intelligence for India

One PIN code,a complete agricultural picture.

Enter the 6-digit PIN code of any Indian locality and get the agricultural area, estimated number of fields and the satellite indices behind them — computed from Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 imagery over that exact boundary.

Boundaries, agricultural area and field estimates for that PIN.

  • PIN boundary intersected with village and ward polygons
  • Optical NDVI / EVI / NDWI fused with radar backscatter
  • Field estimates with source and confidence metadata

What the pipeline returns

10 m

Optical resolution

Sentinel-2 L2A native ground sampling distance

90 days

Analysis modules

From area estimation to per-field crop intelligence

The platform is built in phases. Area and field detection are live today; crop classification, phenology, irrigation and crop health build on the same field-level satellite time series.

Run an analysis
Available

Agricultural area

Estimated cultivated hectares inside the PIN AOI with optical index statistics.

Available

Field detection

Cadastral-plus-satellite field polygons, with count, average size and total area.

Roadmap

Crop classification

Per-field crop type models trained on field-level satellite time series.

Roadmap

Crop stage & phenology

Growth stage and harvest-window estimation from vegetation index curves.

Roadmap

Irrigation status

Irrigated versus rainfed classification using radar, rainfall and soil moisture.

Roadmap

Crop health

Stress classification into healthy, moderate and high stress categories.

Capabilities

Everything the platform computes for a PIN code

Each capability maps to a phase of the pipeline, from resolving the geographic foundation to fusing optical and radar observations into field-level estimates.

PIN-code lookup

Resolve any 6-digit PIN to its boundary polygon (AOI) and the villages and wards that intersect it, computed in PostGIS.

Phase 1

Agricultural area

Sentinel-2 L2A vegetation indices fused with Sentinel-1 RTC radar observations to estimate vegetated agricultural land.

Phase 2

Field detection

Official cadastral parcels merged with satellite-derived boundaries into hybrid field polygons for the PIN.

Phase 3

Field summary

Estimated field count, average field size and total field area, filterable by cadastral, hybrid or satellite source.

Phase 3

Multi-index analytics

Mean NDVI, EVI and NDWI alongside radar VH backscatter in dB and the radar vegetation index (RVI).

Sentinel

Confidence & provenance

Every derived metric returns a source, data type and confidence score so estimates are never presented as ground truth.

Data quality

Radius intelligence

Aggregate stored fields around any latitude/longitude, with the PINs still awaiting Sentinel coverage reported back.

Spatial

Slow-job safety

Sentinel processing runs as an explicit POST job while read endpoints stay bounded, so summaries never hang a request.

Platform

How it works

Four steps from a PIN code to field-level intelligence

No coordinates, no shapefiles and no digging through scene catalogues — the PIN code is resolved to a boundary and everything else follows from there.

  1. 01

    Enter a PIN code

The 6-digit PIN is the only input. It becomes the Area of Interest for the whole analysis.

  2. 02

    Resolve the boundary

The PIN polygon is intersected with administrative village and ward boundaries in PostGIS.

  3. 03

    Fuse the imagery

Sentinel-2 L2A optical indices and Sentinel-1 RTC radar observations build the agricultural mask.

  4. 04

    Read the intelligence

Area, field estimates, index statistics and a confidence score are returned for the PIN.

Built for Indian farming conditions

Nationwide reach, honest about its limits

Fallow and recently harvested fields can still be under-counted, and radar thresholds ship as initial values. The platform reports what it measured, how it measured it and how confident it is — rather than presenting a number without context.

Reliable estimates
Rule-based thresholds are configurable, so the agricultural mask can be tuned per region and season before operational use.
Wide coverage
Works for cultivation, plantation and irrigation-related questions across different crops and field conditions.
Comparable metrics
Areas are measured in the same projected units everywhere, so PIN totals and radius summaries line up.
Honest labelling
Modelled satellite fields are marked differently from authoritative cadastral parcels in every response.

Every one of these figures travels with a source, data type and confidence field, so a UI can label estimates as estimates.

Get started

Analyse any Indian PIN code in seconds

Run a live lookup against the API for boundary resolution and field summaries, or trigger the full Sentinel-1/2 agricultural area computation for a PIN.

Boundaries, agricultural area and field estimates for that PIN.

  • Backed by real imagery

Every estimate traces back to Sentinel scenes read as Cloud Optimized GeoTIFFs.

  • Cached for 7 days

Computed results are reused for a week unless you explicitly request a refresh.

  • Separates estimate from fact

Official cadastral boundaries and modelled satellite fields are labelled differently.

  • Nationwide reach

The same pipeline runs for a single PIN or every PIN code in a state.
